Slavonic Abacus

Description

This resource provides the perfect concrete model for the field of 100. Each bar of the abacus is configured in fives of red and white beads. The colours are reversed in the next five decades. Any number between 0 and 100 can easily be identified without recourse to counting (providing numerosity to 5 has been established). After sufficient experience handling number quantities using the beads, it should be possible to move onto the representational cardboard model (see Slavonic Card Abacus).
