This is a Thesaurus with colour pictures to help children write creatively and independently at home and in the classroom. Specially written for primary age children aged 7 and above, it uses a straightforward approach to help primary school children build and enrich their vocabulary and master the skills of using a thesaurus.

To help find words easily in the Thesaurus, the alphabet has been split into four different coloured sections or ‘quartiles’ a-f , g-m,  n-s,  and t-z. This makes it easier to look  up words quickly. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order. All the head words are carefully chosen and are words that children are most likely to look up. The synonyms and alternative words offered are a mixture of familiar words and unfamiliar words that will stretch children’s vocabulary.
