An example of one of the three siuations on the transport page is –

Dad is in the passenger seat looking at a map. Mum is getting angry. Ellie is laughing in the back.

1. What is Dad trying to do?

a) He is deciding on what to have for dinner?

b) He is giving directions to Mum?

c) He is reading a book?

2. How many people are there in the car?

3. Is Ellie worried about being late?

Although the pages have been designed to allow writen work, it is also very appropriate to use as a purely oral activity. It can be particularly useful in a group situation where is can trigger discussion of differing views in response to the more open-ended questions.
