This course has been designed for educational professionals working with pupils experiencing difficulties with basic mathematical skills. This is an information only course. There are no marked assignments but a certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course for those seeking evidence of professional development. Sessions will include practical activities and demonstrations. A basic tool kit will be provided for each candidate to keep.

Course programme:
Session 1 Underlying difficulties and assessment
Session 2 Counting and Place Value - games, resources, language of maths, memory and overlearning.
Session 3 Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division – teaching ideas.
Session 4 Parts of the whole- fractions, percentages, decimals. Solving number problems. Session 5 Space, shape time and money. Teaching ideas.
