Level 3 Course for Teaching Assistants Supporting Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia)
Accredited Course in Association with The National College Open Network – local area
This course has been designed to provide candidates with the essential knowledge and skills required when working as a teaching assistant supporting learners at Key Stages 1 and 2, who have been identified with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).
Candidates will be expected to show evidence of working with learners and will be required to complete six mandatory units to demonstrate their competence in this field.
The course aims to provide candidates with both the theoretical and practical knowledge required of a teaching assistant in this area. Prior knowledge is not necessary, however, candidates must have access to learners in a classroom setting. It is also expected that candidates have a level of literacy equivalent to GCSE in order to equip them for the level of written work required.
The six units cover the range of knowledge that a competent teaching assistant should possess.
